Before we were awarded the global title of 'Best Hidden Gem', we had already been presented with the award for ‘Best Hidden Gem of the Netherlands’ in our home country, as decided by a professional jury. The latter’s key factors for awarding the prize included ‘exceptional’, ‘unique’, ‘relatively unknown’ and, above all, ‘the attraction goes out of its way to provide visitors with a real experience’.
We were already very honoured to have won this national award, but this also meant battling it out on a global stage. And guess what? Votes from you – our amazing visitors – helped us get the win!

There are seven categories for the Remarkable Venue Awards and we were the only Dutch winner in every category. In the category ‘Best Hidden Gem’ the opposition were the View at the Palm in Dubai, Edge in New York, the Palazzo Pisani in Venice, the Rodin Museum in Paris, the Casa da Guitarra in Porto, elBulli1846 in Gerona and Barley Hall in York. It was so exciting and the race for the win was neck and neck. This made the euphoria even bigger when our ‘Tulip Experience Amsterdam’ was announced as the winner.

This award internationally recognises our efforts. We now eagerly look forward to the 2024 season.
The shortlist we were on included an impressive array of nominated attractions from around the world, from New York to Dubai and from Portugal to Venice. Winning this prize is a wonderful homage to the beautiful Bollenstreek or Flower Bulb Region. The area that inspires us and where our family firm is based.
Our Tulip Experience is open eight weeks a year and tells visitors the story behind the tulips and helps them experience their magic. At our museum, that is a working bulb business the rest of the year, visitors can learn all there is to know about the tulip’s rich history, its cultivation process as well as surprising facts about the flower. Furthermore, they can take the most amazing photographs in our show garden that features 1 million tulips of 700 different varieties.
