At Tulip Experience Amsterdam, it's all about tulips and enjoying each other's company. Whether you're planning a day out with your family, bringing your parents, or surprising the grandparents, everyone can experience tulips in their own way.
Sylvia Pennings, director of Tulip Experience Amsterdam, explains how she designed the location as a place where families can discover, laugh, and enjoy together.
The 40,000-square-meter show garden with 4 million tulips is the beating heart of the experience. Here, over 700 varieties of tulips bloom in a cheerful mix of colors, shapes, and heights.
"We wanted the entire Tulip Garden to be an experience for all ages," says Sylvia. "Wide paths, comfortable seating, and photo spots everywhere make it easy to explore together."
For families, the garden is one big playground full of color. Children can burn off energy among the flower beds, while parents take photos and grandparents enjoy the peace, the scent, and the view. The paths are well organized, and there's plenty of room for strollers and prams, so everyone can enjoy a relaxed stroll.
Children won't be bored for a moment. Especially for young explorers, there's a Tulip Experience scavenger hunt that brings the tulip to life playfully. In every section of the Tulip Museum, they'll discover something new: how a bulb grows, why tulips change color, and the journey the tulip has made around the world.
"Children absolutely love the show garden," Sylvia says with a laugh. "They can walk among the flowers, take pictures, and learn all sorts of things along the way. We often see families returning, simply because it's so much fun for the kids."
Afterward they can relax in the kids' corner inside and play while the parents quietly browse around the shop or relax in the coffee corner.
From families with young children to those with limited mobility. Everyone should be able to experience the same thing here: the magic of the tulip. It's not just about looking at tulips but about enjoying them together."
"We want families to come and make memories here"
Yes, even your four-legged friends are welcome! Dogs are welcome, as long as they're kept on a leash.
"We get that question so often," laughs Sylvia. "And we actually love it when people bring their dogs. We have photo booths where dogs happily pose." This instantly turns a visit to the tulips into a fantastic family outing for everyone.
"We're an inclusive location," says Sylvia with conviction. "We believe it's important that everyone, regardless of age or mobility, can enjoy our tulips and stories."
That's why the entire site is wheelchair- and stroller-friendly. The paths in the show garden are largely paved, allowing visitors to move around comfortably, even among the tulip fields. Inside, everything is on one level, without thresholds or steps, so everyone can move around freely.
In addition, there are disabled toilets, and there is always someone available at the entrance to assist if necessary.
The Tulip Experience Amsterdam is a wheelchair-accessible activity. Various facilities are available to ensure visitors in wheelchairs or with a walker can easily get around.
A visit to the Tulip Experience Amsterdam is more than just looking at flowers: it's a day full of magic and fun. The tulips tell their own story. Thanks to the accessible design, everyone can experience that story firsthand.
"The tulip connects people," says Sylvia. "And that's exactly what we want to do here: bring people of all ages and backgrounds together amid the magic of tulips."
